The first Austin Seven was built in 1922 and changed the concept of motoring by providing a practical, robust form of four wheeled transport at a price affordable by a sector of the public previously unlikely to become car owners. Its small size was revolutionary, but it had a number of advanced engineering features one of which was the introduction of four wheel brakes, previously found only on the most expensive cars.
