The first Austin Seven was built in 1922 and changed the concept of motoring by providing a practical, robust form of four wheeled transport at a price affordable by a sector of the public previously unlikely to become car owners. Its small size was revolutionary, but it had a number of advanced engineering features one of which was the introduction of four wheel brakes, previously found only on the most expensive cars. Racing and sports models were produced and the car achieved speeds of 86 mph in 1923, its first year of racing. Standard cars were capable of 40-50 mph and 50 mpg and in 1924 costAddress: 280, Church Road
